What have I learned in media?

In media I have learned that the media have 10 sectors; Tv, publishing (e.g. books), radio, animation, interactive media (social media), photo imagery, gaming (consoles), advertisement and marketing, press (e.g. magazines), film. Media have the different types of genre in music videos and in movies; Crossover Genre is where it will be in different categories and blends in with the themes and the elements from two or more genres.

 Intertextuality is where you have something relatable in the movies e.g. family guy would have a episodes that event that related to star wars. The Thriller music video would have the crossover genre this would include thriller romance and drama. Primary and secondary would use the research to find out what the audience watches and prefer; e.g. they would use surveys, interviews, and questionnaire for the primary research and they would use website, apps, books and documentaries for the secondary research.

I learned that the purpose of music videos is to have a promotional of good artist, record label, where with the artists the fans would want to follow their trends such as their lifestyle fashion sense and ideology way of thinking. Music would be produced by the big labels that were huge from 1988 to 1999; Sony Music company, BMA company label and so on, there could be strategies for producers that are independent and self-produced.

I know that if there is a hip-hop music videos artist would have girls, money, setting which be the location; in the streets or the neighbourhood, they would also have materialistic, these hip-hop artists would influence the crowd and the fans into being part of the franchise. And they would have the choreography in the videos where as it could be catchy to the songs that everybody could dance to if the song is good.

The music video productions would have the purpose of analysing what’s in the video and what it shows, it can include the mise en scene, editing, special effects, sound and camera. I learned that Gaze is where it is made by a person’s point of view either female or a male point of view. There are 12 different style of music videos; popular music genre, in concert and as live footage, animation (stop motion digital), interpretative, narrative, impressionist, surrealist, pastiche, parody, referencing, homage and influence commercials. Popular music genre would have the different types of pop music and live concert is when it is camera live either you can find the live concert on radio, televisions or YouTube live video.

I learned that the representation is a key concept in media education, understanding the difference between what is real and what is represented vital to our understanding of any good media text. Stereotypes is simplified representation of characteristic appearance and beliefs. They tend to exaggerate as well as simplify and can be negative or positive. It can suggest that it is wrong to see people in categories the social field pf psychology it has long to be recognised that categorisation is fundamental process necessary for human to make sense of the world.
